Hope

I am thinking about hope a lot again. It is one of the foundational virtues in life. Hope is the expectation of a good end. According to Romans 8:28, is there any such thing as false hope? You tell me...

Once when I was without hope I read a very interesting book entitled "The Anatomy of Hope". From that book, I began to understand that nothing begins without hope. Think about that. It is a profound statement. I might also add that nothing is sustained without hope. Hope nourishes the soul! And to answer your question, is there such a thing as false hope? I think there is - blind optimism.

I don't really know about false hope. Mostly I don't think there is enough basic hope. Everyday during my work as a therapist I am trying to instill HOPE in my clients. Hope that things will get better. Hope that it's worth trying. Sometimes I have to hope for people - because they can't even go there yet...
