Matthew 14:23 ESV And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,Leadership is hard work. It is not back-breaking physical labor but it is emotionally and spiritually draining. I recommend getting away, out of town, away from the pressures of your organization. Jesus did it. So you might ask..."what about the sick, the poor, the undiscipled?" Jesus lived out of a full tank and was not moved by human needs. He was led by the voice of His Father. So often we are drained and only half-living and half-leading.
That is not the kind of emptiness or brokenness that scripture prescribes. That is simply STUPID. To read about godly brokenness check out this post.
Get away with your God and your family and get reconnected and recharged. It is a goal of mine to get away once a quarter even if it is only for one night. I'm not there yet.
How often do you get away?
