Pain

Pain. It exists for a reason. Pain tells us that something is wrong. When we feel pain it an indicator that we are human...alive. I had the opportunity to give pastoral ministry to several situations today. Difficult situations, people hurting, lives broken. They hurt...I did too - I do.
I'm okay...I'm casting my cares on the One who cares for me--for them.
How do you handle the hurt?

Sometimes well, sometimes poorly...

I cry, I lament, I repent, I realign, I pray, I seek, I listen when I get an answer, and I remember the words that have been carved in my heart and mind.

And when that doesn't work, I do it all over again...

I handle pain by giving it to god and processing it with others. Both may seem trite "right answers" but that's really the secret in my book. Letting things go and giving them to god is far more easy to state than do, however just the simple act of acknowledging your need and presenting it before god with a simple "I want to let this go"... or "I need you to heal this" is powerful and life changing. As I noted above sometimes we need a little god in the flesh... so I go to my good and trusted friends and share my heartache or pain with them.

Something like that...
